It took developers such a long time to adopt FBML (Facebook Markup Language) to build landing page for fan pages on Facebook. I myself had spent 3 months to learn this new language before Facebook changed their minds.
“From March 11, 2011, onwards users wont be able create new FBML apps and Pages will no longer be able to add the Static FBML app”
That means we can’t use FBML anymore. Thankfully, existing fan pages using FBML won’t be affected. But from that day on, if you want to create a fan page, you have to say good bye to FBML and come back to HTML and iFrames. If your landing pages are still using FBML, I think that you should change it to iFrame. You won’t know when Facebook changes their mind again and wipe out this type of pages.
In this post, I’ll tell you how to create a landing page with iFrame and HTML, plus some extra tips for adding new elements to your landing page (such as Image, video,…).
How To Create A Facebook Landing Page
1. Go to Static Iframe Tab app on Facebook. Then click Install Page Tab to add this app to your Facebook Fan Page
2. Choose the page you want to add
3. After installing, there’ll be a new tab appear on your Fan Page. Click on that tab to edit your landing page
4. Here is the screenshot of what this app looks like on your page
Page Source: What you fans see
Non-Fan Page Source: What new visitors see. Usually this will be an image tell non-fan visitors how to like your fan page and become a fan.
Friend-Gate (New!): Friends do not need to be fans to access your content.
These three fields allow you to add URL, Images or Static HTML to your fan pages easily.
5. To make this page the default landing page for your fan page. Click Edit Page. Go to Manage Permissions and set default landing page
6. Change tab’s name
Click on Apps. Choose Edit Settings then change to your prefer name
